Clean Heat Rhode Island’s Income Eligible Program

Ocean State Air Solutions (“OSA”) has announced its selection as a provider for Rhode Island’s new no-cost, residential heat pump installation program administered by Clean Heat Rhode Island’s Income Eligible Program. The program covers 100% of the costs, including electrical service upgrades, for income-eligible homeowners to install heat pump heating and cooling systems in their homes.

OSA is one of only two heating and cooling businesses to be awarded the designation. Heat pumps move heat from outside to inside (in heating mode) or the reverse (in cooling mode) and are three times more efficient than systems that burn fossil fuels.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for eligible homeowners to significantly upgrade their heating and cooling systems at no cost to them,” said Craig Clark, owner of OSA. “We work with homeowners to design and install a heat pump system, which replaces heating and cooling appliances currently powered by oil and propane. Homeowners will have a safer, environmentally sustainable, and more cost-efficient way to heat and cool their homes. We are very pleased to have been selected as a provider for this important program.”

Eligibility in the CHRI program is determined by household income and number of residents. A household of two residents with an annual income up to $44,512 would qualify, as would a household of five residents with an annual income up to $75,933. Homeowners enrolled in SNAP, LIHEAP, or Rhode Island Energy Discount Rate also qualify. The CHRI website provides more information on eligibility and the application process.

Clean Heat Rhode Island is administered through the State of RI Office of Energy Resources, following legislation enacted by the RI General Assembly in 2022 with funds allocated to the State Fiscal Recovery Fund, part of the American Rescue Plan Act.
